Lieutenant Colonel William “Bill” Glover, USAF ret., age 83, of Cookville, TX, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024, in Tyler, TX. Bill was born to William Lee Glover and Beatrice Hammonds Glover on October 25, 1940. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1959. On April 8, 1961, he married the love of his life, Carolyn “Carol” Garrett, in Marshall, TX. Bill retired from the United States Air Force on March 1, 1981, after a career spanning over two decades including several tours of duty during the Vietnam War and multiple strategic missile command postings in the United States. After his military career Bill and Carol returned to the Mt. Pleasant area where they opened and ran War Eagle Enterprises, an ad specialty business, for over twenty years. Bill was also active in the community serving on the board of directors for the Northeast Texas Credit Union for a number of years, as well volunteering with the Mt. Pleasant Optimist Club, in addition to two local chapters of the Disabled American Veterans.
Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol Glover, his two sons: Michael Glover, of Lewisville, Texas, and Mark Glover and wife Karen, of Mt. Pleasant; three grandsons: Garrett Glover and wife Tabitha, Gunner Glover and wife Molly, and Mitchell Glover. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, his sister, Joann Neal and husband A.D., brother, Neal Glover and wife Talar, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William Lee Glover and Beatrice Glover.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 10:00 AM-7:00 PM with family accepting friends from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home.
Inurnment will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations can be made to Watkins-Logan Texas State Veterans Home, 11466 Honor Lane, Tyler, TX, 75708 in memory of Lieutenant Colonel William Glover.
Cremation arrangements for Lieutenant Colonel William Glover are currently under the direction of Curry-Welborn Funeral Home.
