Lu Ann Downard Beaman of Greencastle, passed on Thursday, September 18, 2025 surrounded by family and loved ones.

She was born January 7, 1953 in Indianapolis to James "Red" and Irene (Hughes) Downard, and they preceded her in death.

She grew up in Danville and cherished neighborhood friends near South Kentucky Street. She graduated from Danville High School in 1971.

She went on to Butler School of Music, where she studied voice and was a talented performer.

She worked as a successful florist for many years.

Lu Ann eventually began working at Head Start, where she would become transportation manager. She taught and trained hundreds of bus drivers. She retired just before her 25 years of dedication.

Lu Ann was an artist; she was a beautiful pianist and singer. She could master any crochet pattern and could draw exquisitely.

Not only was she an advocate but Lu Ann was selfless, generous, empathetic, genuine and treated everyone as a friend. She leaves behind many family members and friends.

Survivors include her children, Amanda (Josh), Sara, James Daniel "J.D." (Margaret Joyelle), Kathleen "Katie" (Justin), and step-daughter Renee. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren who know her as "G", Jason, A.J., Arianna, Parker, Wyatt, Keegan, Lilly, Briar, Trajan, Xander, Pierce, Austyn, Hurley, Annie, Josiah, and great-grand baby Sawyer. She is survived by her sister Phyllis and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friend, John Boller.

Lu Ann was special to many people and although she's left Earth her legacy of love thy neighbor, compassion, and acceptance will remain forever with her children, grandchildren, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for assistance with the funeral and end of life expenses. You may donate in Lu Ann's name to Baker Funeral Home.

Services will be held at Baker Funeral Home, 387 East Broadway Danville, IN 46122 with Brother Paul Weiss to officiate on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Visitation will be from 12 pm-2 pm. Services will begin at 2 pm with graveside to follow at Danville South Cemetery.
