Lua Thi Nguyen, age 87 of Grand Rapids, MI was peacefully called to her heavenly home on Friday, March 21, 2025, in the care of her loving family. She was born on November 11, 1937, in Hanoi, Vietnam. She and her son were sponsored to the United States in September of 1988, by Covenant Christian Reformed Church.
Lua had many interests that brought her happiness such as cooking, drinking coffee, and watching her black and white shows like I love Lucy and the Three Stooges. She loved to stay busy and every morning you would find her outside watering the grass and tending to her garden. When she wasn't outside, she cherished her time spent with her family who would always spoil her with her favorite sweets like gummy bears and Swedish fish. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who found great joy in being present for the lives of those she held dear.
She is lovingly remembered by her son and daughter in law, Quang and Tara Nguyen; granddaughters, Angela (Kenneth) Kienutske and Allison (Adrian) McCord; and her great grandson, Brycen K.
The service in celebration of Lua's life will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025 (visiting will begin at 10:30 a.m.) at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 7171 Willard Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49548. Pastor Jeffery Vanderhooft will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Lua may be made to: The Alzheimer's Association; to help find a cure to end Alzheimer's and all other dementias.
