Luan LaBere, a cherished member of the Bridgeview community and beloved photographer, passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on April 22, 1935, in South Bend, Luan spent her life capturing the beauty of everyday moments through her camera lens. She worked as a photographer for a local newspaper, where her passion for high school sports was evident. Her keen eye and artistic vision allowed her to create lasting memories for countless families in the area.

Luan was known for her kind heart, sharp wit, and inquisitive nature. She possessed a deep fondness for understanding how things worked, a quality that served her well both in her career and personal life. Luan enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests, including camping, travel, hunting, riding horses, and a strong love for the outdoors. She embodied a spirit of adventure and often shared that passion with her loved ones.

Family was at the core of Luan's life. She particularly cherished the big family dinners during the holidays, where she took joy in making the pies and playing cards with those she loved. Her legacy is one filled with warmth, laughter, and creative memories.

Luan was proud of her accomplishments, especially in the realm of sports where she won medals in Ladies Skeet Shooting and trophies in ladies golf. These achievements reflect not only her talents but also her dedication and competitive spirit.

She is survived by her son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Michaelena; daughters, Trudy Moore and Karen Moore; daughter-in-law, Sharon and sister, Debbie; grandchildren, David, Dustin, Ryan, Spencer, Garrett, Matt, great-grandchildren; David A., Andrew, Blake, and Julian.

Luan is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur La Bere; her mother, Gertrude Singleton; her father, Carlos Kelly; her brothers, Carlos “Skeeter” Kelly and Gene Kelly; her sisters, Patty Jo Baker; and her grandson, Jonathan Moore.

A visitation with family will be held on February 28, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the McGann Hay University Chapel, located at 2313 Edison Rd, South Bend, IN 46615. Luan LaBere leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and fellowship that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her.
