Garry LaBere

WALKERTON – Garry L. LaBere of Walkerton passed away on August 18, 2023 at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago following an illness. He was born on May 5, 1952 in LaPorte to the late Francis and Virginia (Scarborough) LaBere and was 71 years-old at the time of his death.
He lived in the Walkerton/Koontz Lake area his entire life and owned/operated LaBere Septic Tank Cleaning. He was a past member of the National Guard and a current member of the Sons of the American Legion. Garry also served his community as a past member of the Koontz Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He liked going to 1800's era Rendezvous Festivals where he would participate in full costume. He also enjoyed watching old movies and playing euchre. Garry was also a uniquely talented man who could play the banjo, paint, and do many other artistic things.
Garry is survived by four nephews Jeff (Debbie) LaBere, Ronnie LaBere, and David (Tina) LaBere all of Koontz Lake and Roger (Andrea) LaBere of Fish Lake; three nieces Donna (Randy) Litteral of North Liberty, Mary West of LaPorte, and Ashley (Kate) Maloney of Chicago; one sister-in-law Rosemary LaBere of Roseland; and may cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Ronald, Richard, Roy, and Raymond.
Visiting hours will be from 11:30 to 1:30 EDT Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 1:30 EDT also on Wednesday, August 30 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton.
