David (Dave) Alan Cossman, age 75, passed away peacefully at his home in Buchanan, Michigan, on August 19, 2025.
Born on February 22, 1950, in South Bend, Indiana, Dave was the beloved son of the late Sam and Virginia Cossman. On September 20, 1970, he married Patricia Held in Gary, Indiana, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and devotion. Patricia survives him.
Dave was a man of hard work, passion, and joy. He was the proud owner of High Speed Auto Wash, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 1998. Even after retirement, Dave continued to stay active in the workforce, contributing his time and knowledge at True Valve Hardware.
Beyond his professional life, Dave had many passions. He was an avid classic car collector for over 50 years, a pursuit that brought him both pride and happiness. Among his collection were a ‘64 Ford Fairlane, a custom ‘54 Chevy Bel Air, and a 1938 Street Rod He loved to travel, exploring new places and experiences with his family, and he enjoyed playing billiards, a game that brought him both relaxation and friendly competition.
Dave’s greatest pride, however, was his family. In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by his children: Todd (Margie) Cossman of New York, NY, and Rachel (Thomas) Potts of South Bend, IN; brother, Nate (Linda) Cossman of Mishawaka, IN; grandchildren, Kayla (Craig) McCoy of LaPorte, IN, Jodi and Erica Cossman of New York, NY; and great-granddaughter, Sophia McCoy.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at McGann Hay Funeral Home, 2313 E. Edison Road.
