Thomas Roy Springer

Thomas R. Springer, 72, of Three Oaks, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, just days before his 73rd birthday.

Born in Battle Creek, Michigan, Tom was the son of Robert L. Springer and Charlotte J. (Dowding) Springer and was also lovingly raised by Sandra J. Springer Thomas.

After graduating from Grand Rapids Central High School, Tom proudly served in the United States Army. His time in service reflected the discipline, integrity, and quiet strength that marked his character throughout life. Following his military service, he built a long career as a skilled millwright at Pemco, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steady hands.

In 1973, Tom married the love of his life, Dorothy (Cantrell) Springer. They shared over four decades together until her passing in 2016, building a life rooted in love, laughter, and family.

He is survived by his daughters, Kelly (Bryan) McCarty and Carrie (Courageous) Vanlue; grandchildren, Wesley (Ashley), William (Angaleyse), Lexie, Kolby, and Gavin; sisters, Traci Parker and Valerie (Jeff) Barnaby; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, his sisters Jeanette Thornton and Diane Reese, his brother Todd Springer, and his brother-in-law Kelly Parker.

Tom was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting-especially with his grandkids. He loved sports, coaching, and a good euchre game. During his years on the sidelines, he shaped countless young lives-not just teaching the game, but modeling integrity, grit, and kindness. His home was always open, a place where teammates, neighbors, and friends knew they were welcome. A devoted Notre Dame fan in a family of Michigan loyalists, he never missed a chance to stir up a playful debate on game days. He was a gifted storyteller, a man of principle, and someone who loved his family with his whole heart.

At Tom's request, no formal services will be held. Palmer Funeral Home – Hoven Chapel is respectfully assisting the family with arrangements.
