Luann Andreu Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Craig Funeral Home from Jan. 20 to Jan. 21, 2026.
Luann Tringali Andreu was born January 17, 1958, to Anthony and Lucy Tringali in St. Augustine, Florida. Luann was an only child and very close with her parents. Her father Tony always said "she was more than a daughter - she was my pal." When Luann was a child, Tony often took her fishing in the Atlantic, and, to her delight, let her drive his car on the beach in St. Augustine.

Luann was an avid tennis player in high school and also enjoyed spending time with her closest friends Susan, Sandy, Cathy and Frances, who called themselves the Fab Five.

Luann graduated as salutatorian of her alma mater St. Augustine High in 1976. She went on to study one year at Georgia Southern University before she transferred to the University of Florida, where she graduated with a degree in marketing. After college, she was a successful merchandise manager in Panama City and later in Orlando.

On January 4, 1986, she married her high school sweetheart Timothy Allen Andreu and they moved to Tampa, FL where they both became key members of the community. They had three children Kimberly, Allen and Ellen (Ellie). Luann's proudest accomplishment was being a mother and caring for her children.

Luann went on to spend many hours volunteering with the PTA (Mitchel Elementary, Wilson Middle School, Plant High School), Plant High Chorus, Plant College Resource Room, Meals on Wheels, and working as a substitute teacher for Hillsborough County Schools. She was passionate about bettering Tampa Schools, the community, and providing key resources for students to complete college applications so that they could further their education.

She was also a long-time member of Ye Loyal Krewe of Grace O' Malley and she frequently brought her children on the Gasparilla Children's Parade float.

Luann was always making friends around her, whether it was the employees at her local grocery store or her favorite restaurants. She made an impact everywhere she went and was loved by many.

Luann was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's in 2019. She fought a long battle with this terrible disease and spent lots of time with her family during this period.

Luann died peacefully on her 68th birthday, January 17, 2026, in Tampa, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her children Kimberly Andreu Hendee (husband Michael Hendee and their children Thomas (6), Caroline (5), Anna (3)), Allen Joseph Andreu (wife Jessie Bexley and their child Bryant (2)), and Ellen Muriel Andreu (husband Thomas Murphy) and her former husband Timothy Allen Andreu of Tampa.

A funeral Mass will be held on January 22, 2026 at 9am in the Cathedral Basilica St. Augustine. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery.

The family will hold a celebration of life in Tampa at a later date. If you feel inclined to contribute, we ask that you please donate any amount to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Luann.

I had so much fun getting to know Luann while we watched 4 years of Plant Football. Luann was gifted in so many ways: smart, spirited, positive and funny. I am sorry she was sick for those many months and years but grateful that she lived out her last days where she got such good care. She always had a smile on her face and was enjoying life in her own way. XO, Mary and Charley
