LuAnn Rhodes, 68, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
She was born on August 19, 1955, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to proud parents Paul and Lea Mae (Riggs) Norris. LuAnn graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1973 and went on to touch the lives of many as a paraprofessional at Labette County USD 506 for an admirable 25 years. Her commitment to supporting and guiding students with special needs left an indelible impact on the school community.
Known for her kind and welcoming personality, LuAnn's love extended most profoundly to her family. She found joy in talking and visiting with her loved ones, cherishing every moment spent together. Her devotion to her family was unwavering.
In addition to her dedication to her career and family, LuAnn was devoted to her faith and an active, longtime member of Dennis United Methodist, serving in many roles in the church.
LuAnn is survived by her loving husband, Roy "Stub" Rhodes, who stood by her side through life's journey. She is also survived by her children: Rachel (Clayton) Merrick of Mound Valley, Kansas; Jerod (Lindy) Rhodes of Olathe, Kansas; Jacob (Diane) Rhodes of Nixa, Missouri; and Matthew Rhodes of Overland Park, Kansas.
LuAnn leaves behind a legacy in the form of her grandchildren: Bethany Merrick, Caleb Merrick, Keira Rhodes, and McKinley Rhodes.
The family will greet friends 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the Dennis United Methodist, 110 Boyle St, Dennis, KS 67341.Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Dennis United Methodist Church with Pat McReynolds, officiating.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Cherryvale Historical Museum or Dennis United Methodist Church, and they may left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.
May she rest in peace knowing that she touched numerous hearts with her kindness and left a lasting impact on those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
