Last moments
The morning before you passed, I was watching the birds outside.
They were singing and flying around so freely.
Some came to the tree that was beside me, sitting on the branches, catching shade from the sun, and eating the mulberries.
I told God, "You surely take care of the birds. Surely, you will take care of my grandpa and my family."
I opened my Bible and began to read John 14:1-4.
You couldn't speak during your last week here on earth. I know that if you could have, you would have reminded each and every one of us that you loved us. Just as you did throughout all your years with us.
I watched you take your last earthly breath. You were breathing peacefully for a moment and looking straight up. I began to think of the things you were seeing at that last moment.
It reminded me of three things.
First, it reminded me of this scripture.
And God said, let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. Genesis 1:20 KJV
Grandpa, you were flying freely in the open firmament of heaven just as a bird at that very moment. Traveling to your eternal home, seeing the most beautiful bunks.
Secondly, it reminded me of when I read John 14, the morning before. And I knew right then and there, Jesus was there with you, and your home was now ready for you.
And lastly, it reminded me of the dream you shared with me that you had in your sleep. I know the dream came true that morning.
One day, our family will be in heaven with you, singing endlessly and rejoicing with you.
We miss you, but until we meet again. I love you.
