Lucienne Legros

Lucienne Legros, affectionately known as Lucie, was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to her loving parents, Louise Pierre Paul Legros and Archibald Legros. She was the youngest of four daughters and the second youngest of five children, with her beloved younger brother, Fritz, completing their family. In her early twenties, Lucie set out on a new journey, leaving Haiti for theUnited States with her little brother, Fritz. She settled in Chicago, Illinois, where she met and married the love of her life, the late Oralus Lande. Together, they built a family and welcomed two beautiful children, Gregory and Mia.
Eventually, Lucie made her way to New York City, where she built a career in the health services field, caring for the elderly with deep compassion. But her generosity extended far beyond her profession-it was simply who she was. If someone was hungry, she made sure they were fed. If someone was cold, she would give them the shirt off her back. Her kindness was limitless, and she never turned away someone in need.
Above all, Lucie was devoted to her family. Her children were the loves of her life, and she embraced every moment spent with them. She was also a second mother to her granddaughter, Latoya, and a pillar of strength and love for her extended family. Whether in Brooklyn's East Flatbush neighborhood or later in New Jersey, Lucie's home was always a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.
She was a woman of quiet strength, fierce independence, and unwavering loyalty. She believed in standing up for what was right, not just for herself but for those she loved. Lucie's presence was a source of comfort, her wisdom a guiding light, and her love a gift that will never fade. Gregory and Mia Lande; her cherished granddaughter, Latoya Murray; and her two precious great-granddaughters, Yasenia and Ja'nee Murray-Wegman. She also leaves behind her
devoted siblings, Evelyne Armand, Marlene Benoit, and her youngest brother, Fritz Legros, as well as her nieces, Nancy Paul, Betty Armand, Yolene Dorsenvill, and Martine Parker, Erin Legros and her nephews, Ronnie Benoit, Mario Benoit, Jeffery Armand, Marshall Ettienne, and Brent Legros. She also leaves behind many cousins, friends, and her church family.
Though we grieve her loss, we also celebrate the life she lived-a life defined by love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family. Lucie had a heart big enough to hold the whole world, and in her honor, may we continue to give, to love, and to care for one another as she did so effortlessly.
Rest in peace, dear Lucie. You are deeply loved and will be forever missed.
