Margaret Lucille Farris Benthall went home to be with her Lord and Savior early Tuesday morning, October 22, 2024. She was born December 31, 1927, in western Walker County. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eva Mae Roberts Farris and Lee E. Farris; sons Lee E. Benthall; Keith L. Benthall; husband Fred L. Benthall Jr.; sister Eva Jean Farris Callaham and husband David Lee Callaham; brother James E. Farris and wife Norma Caldwell Farris. She is survived by her sister Winnie Farris Sandel, husband Joe B. Sandel and many nieces and nephews.
Lucille was born and raised in Huntsville, Texas. She graduated Huntsville High School and attended Sam Houston State Teacher's College. Her career began at First City National Bank in Houston where she worked in the accounting department. Lucille married Fred Benthall in June of 1953. They were members of the Spring Branch Methodist Church, and she served as secretary to the Full Gospel Men's organization in Houston. She moved back to Huntsville when her sons were attending Sam Houston State University. She became very active in the Walker County Fair Association, Republican Women of Walker County, DRT and DAR. She loved her Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ, and brought many to Him through her witness.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Farris Cemetery on FM 1791 with visitation beginning at 10:30 and service at 11:00. Chaplain Wayne I. Norman o ciating. Pallbearers are Byron Sandel, Aaron Sandel, Logan Mizell, JB Farris, RQ Swann and Kevin Green.
The family is very thankful for the special care given to our loved one by the wonderful sta on third floor at Creekside, Methodist Retirement Community. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in her memory to Farris Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 343, Huntsville, Texas 77342-0342. Memorial condolences may be made to the family at www.shmfh.com.
