Lucille Flores 77 years, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024.
Lucille was born May 31, 1947 in Santa Fe, NM. She was raised by her parents, Manuel and Stella Romero in Hondo, NM. While in college at WNMU she met and married the love of her life, Eduardo "Henry" Flores on February 19, 1966. They were married for 49 years and raised a family of seven children (two sets of twin boys) in Silver City, NM. They would go on to take-in those that needed a home and never turned anyone away, raising them as their own. Lucille took great pride in raising her children and grandchildren, shaping them with love, wisdom, and endless devotion. She was the cherished mother of Edward Flores and his wife, Emmarie; Benny Flores and his wife Dina; one daughter who was very special to Lucille, Margaret Begay and her husband James; Raymond Flores; Robert Flores; Tony Flores; and Steven Flores and his wife Natalie Flores. Her legacy also lives on through her grandchildren; Eric, Chucky, Gabby, Suzette, Amanda, Maggie, Alyssa, Emmy, Jade, Sabrina, Sage, Edward Alexis, Baby Robert and 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed to have her as a guiding light in their lives. Lucille had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law.
She was a woman of immense grace, never uttering a bad word about anyone, and always welcoming everyone into her home with open arms. Lucille had an uncanny ability to make people feel loved, and no one left her home hungry. Despite battling illness for many years, including 13 years of dialysis, Lucille never complained and always had a smile on her face. She faced every trial with strength and unwavering faith, always putting her family and others before herself.
Lucille's warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and generosity that will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Stella Romero; husband Henry and mother and father-in-law Eduardo and Magdalena Flores; three sons; Benny, Robert, Steven; sister-in-laws Mary Arrellano and Delfina Warnack; and brother-in-law Marcos Flores.
Her memory will forever be cherished, and her presence will remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
Public visitation will be from 5pm-6pm on Thursday, September 12th at Baca's Funeral Home. The Recital of the Holy Rosary by her son Father Raymond Flores will take place on Thursday, September 12th at 6pm at Baca's Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life mass will be held Friday September 13th at St. Vincents de Paul Catholic Church at 9:30 am with Fr. Oliver and Fr. Raymond officiating. Burial will follow where she will be laid to rest with her husband Henry at Fort Bayard National Cemetery at 11:00 am.
Serving as Pallbearers will be James Begay, Tony Flores, Eric Wilmeth, Alyssa Flores, Suzette Flores, Emmy Begay, Maggie Flores, and Edward Flores. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of her great grandchildren.
