Lucille was born on August 1, 1932, in Lincoln Park, Michigan, the second child of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Kellot) Clevers. From a young age, faith played a central role in her life. She was baptized and received her First Communion at St. Henry Catholic Church in Lincoln Park, and later confirmed at St. John Catholic Church in Omar, Michigan. She remained a devoted member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Flint for many years. A proud graduate of Copemish High School in 1950, Lucille moved to Flint shortly after graduation to begin work with the Buick Motor Division. Ambitious and hardworking, she later purchased the Milky Way Restaurant in Flint, which she owned and operated alongside her sister, MaryAnn. It was there, that she met the love of her life, Theodore L. Martel. The two were married on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1953. Lucille and Theodore built their home in Genesee Township, where they lovingly raised their family. Known for her warmth and hospitality, Lucille made her home a welcoming place, filled with the aromas of her delicious cooking and the sound of her sewing machine. She was also a talented artist, creating stunning works of stained glass that reflected her creative spirit. She especially cherished time spent at her cabin, particularly in the fall when the vibrant colors were on full display. A lifelong sports fan, Lucille loved watching football and baseball, always cheering for her favorite teams. Athletic and adventurous, she taught her children to waterski and continued to waterski herself as recently as on her 70th birthday, a testament to her vibrant and energetic spirit.
Lucille is survived by 8 children, Michael (Karen Blecker) Martel, Paul (Juliann) Martel, John Martel, Donald (Diane) Martel, Luann (Michael) Pendy, Carl (Renita) Martel, Patricia (Todd) Cote, Charles (Michele) Martel; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; lifelong best friend, Joyce Quinn; many other loving family members and dear friends.
