Lucy was born February 23, 1936, in Eunice, LA and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. She graduated from Eunice High School in 1954. Lucy worked as a bookkeeper and teller in the banking industry, as well as the family engineering business, operated a tennis shop, and raised her family. She was a 50 year parishioner of St. Mary Mother of the Church in Lafayette.
Lucy was active in her community and belonged to the Theresians II of Lafayette, and was a 40 year member of the choir at St. Mary. Her home was always welcoming, where a home cooked meal could be enjoyed with delicious aromas filling the air. The holidays were top of the list when it came to family gatherings. Her energy never stopped; she loved to play tennis and bridge with her many friends. She had a giving heart, never met a stranger and took pride in everything she accomplished. Most of all, Lucy loved spending time with her family and friends.
Lucy is survived by her three sons, Ralph Douglas 'Doug' McGee, III, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Brentwood, TN, Christopher Cannon 'Chris' McGee and his wife, Helen, of Detroit, MI, and Craig Dupre McGee and his wife, Joy, of Dallas, TX; her brother, Dale Dupre and his wife, Jalyne, of Lafayette, LA; her seven grandchildren, Shannon McGee Keller and her husband, Curtis, Caroline McGee Jones and her husband, Joshua, Katherine McGee, Chloe McGee, Lee McGee, Chantelle McGee, James C. 'Jamie' McGee and his wife, Nicki; her great-grandchild, Arthur James McGee; her sister-in-law, Joan McGee Raznick and her husband, David, of Lake Worth Beach, FL and numerous dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Ralph Douglas 'Doug' McGee, Jr., of Eunice; her parents, Eraste Joseph and Mary Beatrice Darbonne Dupre and her six brothers, Abbey Dupre, Hubert Dupre, Herbert Dupre, Levoy Dupre, Emery Dupre, and Eraste Dupre, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Damon Dupre, Curtis Keller, Rick Furman, Dan Hare, Mike Melvin, and Wesley Castille.
The family wishes to thank the many caregivers Lucy had at home over several years in Lafayette, including Roxanne Richoux, Margaret Montz, Jody Blanchard, Samantha Duhon, Carolyn Jolivette, Stephanie Stutes, as well as Cloverland Park Senior Living and Adoration Home Health & Hospice for the compassionate care given to Lucy and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lucy's name to Adoration Home Health & Hospice, 1535 W. Northfield Blvd., Murfreesboro, TN 37129, 615-733-0252, www.adorationhealth.com or the charity of your choice.
