Lucille Rothfus

KELSO - Longtime area resident Lucille Rothfus, 99, of Kelso passed away Jan. 20, 2024, at Highgate Senior Living in Vancouver.
She was born on May 22, 1924, to Jack Ray and Matie Satterlee.
Lucille grew up and lived in the Kelso area until moving to Vancouver and then Olympia and retired in Woodland. She and husband Lloyd met in their early teens and started dating in high school. Her work career began at the Longview Daily News as a carrier and advanced to a Clerk position in the Auditors office in the Cowlitz, Clark and Thurston Counties. Lucille was a member of the First Christian Church, enjoyed church activities and ensured all children attended church regularly. Her favorite activities were cooking, sewing, camping and traveling around the world with husband Lloyd. She wintered in Indio, CA for 30 years where she engaged in playing shuffle-board, cards, dancing and participating in community events. She loved vacationing in Hawaii.
Lucille was preceded in death by brother, Donald; husband, Lloyd and parents, Jack Ray and Mattie Satterlee.
Survivors include her children, Gary and daughter-in-law, Nani of Hawaii; Allan and daughter-in-law, Dot of Cle Elm, WA and Nancy and son-in-law, Paul of Green, OH; sisters, Gladys Mannheimer of Portland and Harriett Depriest of Vancouver, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, a niece and their families.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
