Lucille Smith, 72, of
Spokane Valley, Washington, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026,
surrounded by the love of her family.
Lucille was born February 9, 1954, in
Wallace, Idaho to Bettie Zanetti and Frank Taylor. She later
married the love of her life, Richard Smith, and they shared 55 years of marriage together.
Lucille was a loving mother to her children Jack (and significant other Melissa), Angel, Dicky, and Cooie
(and significant other Tommy). She was also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother who
cherished every moment she spent with her family.
She is survived by her brothers Jim, Jerry, and Jeff, and her sister Pat. She was preceded in death by
her brother John, her brother Jr., and her sister Treasa.
Lucille had a vibrant spirit and a personality that could light up any room. She took great pride in her
beautifully manicured yard, loved gardening, and baking. She enjoyed watching episodes of the classic
TV show Gunsmoke on repeat, going on lunch dates with her children and grandchildren, camping, and
spending time at the family's river property in Idaho.
Her family meant everything to her. She loved FaceTiming her kids and grandkids daily, sending gifs on
Messenger just to make them smile, and keeping up with everyone's lives. She loved shopping,
dancing, laughing, and never passed up the chance to have a good time with the people she loved.
Anyone who knew Lucille will never forget her famous words: "Trust me." Her family knew that
sometimes that meant the story might be stretched just a little-but it always came with a smile and a
laugh that made everyone around her feel at home.
More than anything, Lucille will be remembered for the love she gave to her family. Her laughter, her
stories, and her presence brought people together, and the memories she created will live on in the
hearts of those who loved her.
Forever our Mom and Nana, until we meet again.
Psalm 34:18: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
