Lucille M. Stelpflug, 86, of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Family and friends may call from 10-11:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2025 at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, Wisconsin. There will be no formal services.
Lucille was born on April 28, 1939 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and lovingly adopted by Lawrence and Elizabeth (Riemenapp) Dietzel. She graduated from Cuba City High School in 1957. Lucille was united in marriage to Vincent Stelpflug on July 9, 1957 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dickeyville, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2016.
Lucille was a stay-at-home mom for many years. Once her children started school, she worked as a waitress at Country Kitchen and became a wonderful caretaker for many neighborhood children. Lucille was an avid reader, loved bowling and was an huge fan of Elvis Presley. She loved being with her family and took special joy spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also cherished time with special friends, Donna and Jerry Kramer. Lucille will be remembered as a caring soul who was always ready to have fun.
Lucille is survived by three children, Laurie (Todd) VanOstrand, East Dubuque, IL, Brad Stelpflug, San Antonio, TX, and Maribeth (Greg Vyverberg) Stelpflug, Dubuque, IA; eight grandchildren, Joseph (Angie) Stelpflug, Jr., Erica Nieves, Amanda (Bobby) Cosme, Brenna (Lindsey) Stelpflug, Aaron (Melinda) Stelpflug, Courtney (TJ) Runde, Travis (Melissa) Loomis and Hunter (Madison Tate) Lewey; 14 great-grandchildren; two honorary grandchildren, Crissy Gantenbein and Tammy Gann; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Stelpflug; her parents; a son SMSGT Joseph Stelpflug; and a great-grandson, Carter Vincent Runde.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lucille’s name may be sent to Casey-McNett Funeral Home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of MercyOne ER, ICU and 3rd Floor Med-Surgical, Hospice of Dubuque, and Ennoble Manor for their compassionate care of Lucille.
