Lucinda Olivia Irving (nee Bernard) was born on September 15, 1948, to parents Ethel and James Bernard in Bethel Town, in the parish of Westmoreland Jamaica. Lucinda was the fifth of seven children. Her three predeceased siblings were Thomas, Neville, Beverly. Her three remaining siblings are Rowena, Maxwell, and Daniel.
Lucinda obtained her primary school education at Bethel Town All-Age. She went on to study at St. Benedicts College and later worked as a Community Health Aid Worker with the Bethel Town Health District where she would not only work in the Clinic, but she ventured out into the field to take care of the sick and shut in within the surrounding districts. She was very involved in various capacities in the Bethel Town Baptist Church. She was a very active member in the Western-Star Police Youth Club and her community.
On May 7th, 1984, Lucinda and Errol Irving were joined in holy matrimony. Prior to her marriage Lucinda had one biological son, and their union produced 3 sons. She also cared for several stepchildren.
On Saturday, September 30, 2023, exactly 2 weeks after her 75th birthday, while admitted to the Jamaica Medical Center Hospital in Queens, New York, Lucinda was called home to her God.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her 4 sons, Carrue, Everald, Jovian and Alwayne: her only sister, Dr. Rowena O'Connor, and her two brothers, Maxwell Bernard and Daniel Bernard, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, in-laws, other relatives, many friends, and her Lighthouse Baptist Church family.
