It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Lucy Gonzalez Fait on March 26, 2025.

Lucy Fait, a beloved member of our community, was born on June 4, 1949, in Pueblo, Colorado, and passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025. She was a cherished daughter of Juvencio and Gerri Gonzalez and one of ten children in a hardworking family. Lucy’s life was a testament to her dedication to family, faith, and community, leaving an incredible mark on everyone who knew her.

Raised in the loving embrace of a large family, Lucy learned early the values of sharing and togetherness. Her childhood in Pueblo was filled with joyful memories and the principles of care and responsibility which she carried throughout her life. She was a devoted sister to Char, Margy, Vin, Phil, Fred, Paul, Tim, Karl, and Therese, who preceded her in passing. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to include a wide circle of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children and grandchildren.

A graduate of Pueblo Catholic High School, Lucy pursued her passion in nursing, which led her to Penrose Hospital. She later soared through the skies as an airline stewardess, where her love of travel and adventure took root. It was during her time in Seattle that she met her beloved husband, Dave, with whom she shared over five decades of love and companionship. Together, they welcomed their son, Tony, who brought immense joy to their lives.

Throughout her life, Lucy was committed to the well-being of others. Her professional roles were varied, from homemaker and farmworker to accountant and librarian. She even took up welding, perfectly encapsulating her adventurous spirit and willingness to learn. Her retirement years were no less active, as she immersed herself in church life, offering her talents in numerous ministries and community support.

Throughout her life, Lucy embodied the spirit of service and compassion, as reflected in Galatians 6:2, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Lucy’s love for her church community was profound. She was involved in every aspect, from laundering altar clothes and upholstering kneelers to active support of parish events. Her presence was a beacon of joy, and her perceptive nature made everyone feel welcomed and valued.

A woman of many talents, Lucy enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking, always infusing her endeavors with humor and grace. She was the keeper of family connections, reminding everyone of important milestones and hosting working family reunions.

Lucy’s legacy is one of compassion, humor, and dedication. Her love for camping, traveling, and nature was a reflection of her vibrant spirit. Whether riding a dirt bike or dipping her toes in the ocean, Lucy embraced life with open arms and a generous heart.

In her passing, Lucy leaves behind a life well-lived, full of love and service. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Dave; son, Tony; sisters and brothers; her Catholic community; and the countless people whose lives she touched. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her, and her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

We encourage donations to Immaculate Conception Church, (icbuhl.org) or a charity of your choice in Lucy’s memory. Your contributions will help continue the work she so passionately supported.

As we remember Lucy’s life, we take comfort in Romans 8:28, “We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” May this verse bring solace to her loved ones, knowing that Lucy’s legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire and guide us.

May God welcome Lucy into His eternal embrace, where she shall find peace and everlasting joy. Amen.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, with a Rosary beginning at 10:30 am, Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1701 Poplar Street, Buhl. Burial will conclude at the West End Cemetery, 1574 East Elm Street, Buhl.
