Lucy Forte Decher, 90, of Manchester passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 29, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was a beloved wife, mother to 6 children, grandmother to 17 grandchildren and GGMa to 28 great-grandchildren. And that is exactly how she would introduce herself when you met her. This is a family of which she was very proud. She was also a beloved aunt, and great friend.
Lucy was born December 12, 1932 in Brooklyn to the late Pasquale and Maria Assunta (Treglia) Forte. She was employed by Shop Rite, Lakewood, retiring after over 20 years. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Kenneth J. Decher, that she married in New York on June 12, 1954. After living in New York, she moved to Jackson, NJ in 1963 and later to Manchester, NJ.
Lucy was kind and generous to everyone she met. She had a strong faith in God and was currently a member of St. John's Church in Lakehurst. She loved her family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with them playing games, most notably, Pinochle, Rummikub, and Phase Ten. She had a passion for reading, flea marketing, trips to Atlantic City and playing Bingo.
She is also predeceased by her brothers: Armando Forte, Emilio Forte, Genaro Forte, Joseph Forte, and Mario Forte; her son-in-law Michael Lorenc.
Surviving are her two sons and four daughters and their spouses: Patricia Lorenc, Nadine & Sidney Roberts Jr., David & Brenda Decher, Karen McPartlin & Joel Merkin, Keith & Marlena Decher, and Dara & Daryl Layton; her grandchildren: Suzan Lorenc (Michael Borgia), Alicia (Brian) Smith, Michael (Melissa) Lorenc, Joanna (Joseph) Polizzi, Michele (David) Schror, Amity Roberts, Stephanie (Richard) Risden, Renee Decher, Ashley Decher, Casey (Ashley) McPartlin, Megan (William) Seibert, Patrick (Shayna) McPartlin, Marlena (Shane) McCann, Andrew (Mikaela) Decher, Keith J. Decher II, Daryl Layton Jr., and Derek Layton; Her great-grandchildren: Tyler, Michael, Kylie, Melody, Brooke, Cecilia, Gianna, Lincoln, Lanen, Trinidy, Austin, Richard, Nolan, Joseph, Evangeline, Daphne, Perri, Anna Lucia, Mila, Kadence, Aniella, Dante, William, Cameron, Raegan, Christian, Daniel, Ruby with another great grandbaby on the way. She was also loved by her step grandchildren Patrick McBride, Allison McBride, Jason (Darya) Merkin, Jennifer Stern and all of their children. Also surviving is sister-in-law, Tanina Forte; son-in-law, Randy McPartlin; and many much-loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Thursday 4-8 PM. Funeral Liturgy is Friday 10 AM at St John's Church, Lakehurst with entombment to follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
