Lucy Maez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors & Crematory on Feb. 26, 2026.
Lusiya "Lucy" Maez, 95, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 21, 1930, in Del Norte, Colorado, to her cherished parents, Jose Patricio Maez and Josephina Ortega, with whom she is now reunited.

Lucy is survived by her daughters, Mary Linda Maez of Colorado Springs and Melissa Maez (Ted Ulibarri) of Colorado Springs; her granddaughters, Desiree Ruiz (Maclovio Ruiz), Vanessa Wallace (Nate), Brianna Ulibarri, Marissa Ulibarri, and Selina Lyons (John), all of Colorado Springs; and her 15 beloved great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Annie Ocana, Silveria Gonzales, and Josie Maez, and her brothers, Zacharia Maez, Joe P. Maez, Earnest Maez, Antonio Maez, and Isidoro Maez.

Lucy devoted her life to her faith and served as a religious educator, sharing her love of the Lord with those around her.

She found great joy in camping, taking long walks, shopping, watching novelas, cooking, sewing, working puzzles, and painting. Above all, she treasured her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Our beloved "Lulu" will be remembered for her one-of-a-kind, unconditional love and her deep devotion to her Lord and Savior. Her unique personality, wonderful sense of humor, and fiery spirit brought light to every room she entered. She radiated comfort and peace, making wherever she went feel like home. May the love she so freely gave continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

We ask that you keep Mary Linda in your prayers, as the two were truly inseparable.
