Luella Maude Robe, 86, of Fairmont, WV passed away peacefully at the home of her son Ray Robe on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Luella was born on June 28, 1938, in Fairmont, WV and was the daughter of the late Raymond H. and Helena V. Bunner.
Luella grew up in Fairmont, graduating from East Fairmont High School in 1956. After graduating from high school Luella served as a nanny for a family friend as well as her aunt before going to work at the Marion Co. Health department, where she retired after many years of service. Luella also was a faithful member of her Bunner Ridge community.
Luella was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings and all family members, as family was extremely important to her. She was a faithful member of the Bunner Ridge Church of Christ and thought of every member of her church as extended family.
Luella is survived by her three children, Connie and her husband Kevin Hayhurst of Mitchell, IN, Mary Joyce and her husband Roger Brady of West Union, WV and Ray and his wife Tanya Robe of Fairmont, WV. In addition to her children, she is survived by six grandchildren, Rachel (Jason-deceased) Brady, Brandi (Chris) Hankins, Tara (Greg) Hanson, Steven (Emerald) Robe, Taylor (Ryan) Beatty and Zachariah Robe. She is also survived by (14) great-grandchildren and (8) great-great grandchildren. Luella is also survived by her sister Mary Waters of TX, Joe and his wife Alice Bunner and Della and her husband Dean Huffman. Two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Bunner and Linda Perkins; one brother-in-law Ed Bunner, all of Fairmont, WV. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and her best friend Margaret Robe, all whom she loved very much.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-three years, Lowell Dean Robe; her grandsons Adam Hayhurst and Jeremiah Brady; her mother-in-law and father-in-law Theodore and Edra Robe; brothers-in-law J. Ervin Waters, Quinton Terry, Camden Bunner and Joe Perkins; sisters-in-law Anna Lee Terry and Sandra Bunner, nephew Doug Terry and a very special niece Trina Carpenter.
Friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 24 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Bob Hayes and Matt Kime officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a sincere Thank You to WV Caring Hospice and all her care givers; Nicole McCollum, Cassie Moore as well as Toni Balenger who unexpectedly preceded her in death. Thanks to these ladies and in addition to her children, we were able to honor her last wishes.
