Luis Aguliar, Sr.
August 25, 1941 – December 4, 2023
Luis Aguilar, Sr., 82, passed away in Las Cruces, New Mexico on December 4, 2023. Luis was born on August 25, 1941, in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Maria Ayala Aguilar and Jesus Aguilar Castro.
The family moved to Tlalnepantla, Mexico City DF, where Luis began elementary school, continuing his education through the sixth grade. He soon began working to help his parents support his siblings. He went to work for an accomplished upholsterer who taught him the craft.
Luis immigrated to the United States where he became a citizen on November 21, 1985, that being one of his proudest moments. Luis worked in different areas in the automotive field, from mechanics to upholstery. Luis was a proprietor of several businesses throughout the Los Angeles area before moving his family to Sierra Vista, AZ. He later had a business in Sierra Vista called Cochise Manufacture. More recently, he moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, and opened an upholstery business where he manufactured and repaired furniture and repaired auto upholstery. He was very meticulous with his
upholstery work, and very professional, the result was perfect.
Luis served the City of Sierra Vista, being a liaison to Ft. Huachuca, AZ. He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and Sister Cities International.
Luis was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Carmen, nephew José Luis Aguilar, sister-in-law Gloria Mendoza Vera, and his great grandson, Micah Longoria. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Aguilar, his first wife and the mother of his children, Elaine Sierra of Douglas, AZ, his children Manuel "Manny" Rodriguez, Jesus "Jesse" Aguilar, Luis Aguilar, Jr., Sergio (Andrea) Aguilar; Carlos Aguilar, Ann (Todd) McCormick, Lilian Aguilar, Carolyn Aguilar all of Sierra Vista, AZ. Luis also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family members.
Luis will be remembered for his outgoing and caring personality, and finally for his love of people.
A Funeral Mass will be held at a later time.
