Luis Alfredo Colon-Tellado, affectionately known as Freddy, passed away peacefully at home on November 11, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on May 2, 1949, in Anasco, Puerto Rico, Freddy’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with cherished moments, deep connections, and an unwavering dedication to his family and career.
For 39 wonderful years, Freddy poured his heart and soul into his work at McAlpin Industries, where he was respected not just for his skills, but for his kindness and commitment. His colleagues often remarked on his infectious smile and his ability to light up a room with his love for music, which he appreciated in all its forms. Freddy had a fondness for Miller beer and enjoyed sharing good times with family and friends over a cold drink, where laughter and stories would flow freely.
Freddy's family was the cornerstone of his existence. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Norma Santiago Colon, who was his partner and confidante. Together they created a loving home filled with warmth, faith, and joy. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his sons, Freddy, Luis (Jasmine), and Jose (Anna), as well as his daughters, Betty and Marisol (Fred) Hardaway. Proud grandpa to 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, Freddy cherished every moment spent with his family, whether it was sharing music or enjoying simple gatherings full of laughter.
Freddy will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Santos and Juanita Tellado Colon, and his dear sister, Violeta Colon. Their memories will continue to live on in the hearts of their loved ones.
Visitation will be held on November 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, Eastside in Rochester, NY, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The family invites friends and loved ones to come and celebrate the life of this remarkable man, whose spirit will shine brightly in the memories we hold dear. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Lake Ave, Rochester.
