WATERBURY- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Luis Alfredo Crespo Sanabria, who left us on October 27, 2025, at the age of 71. Luis was born on June 12, 1954, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, the son of Alfredo and Neredia Crespo (Sanabria). His family moved to Brooklyn, New York, around the age of 11, where he made cherishable memories with his family and friends. In June of 2024, he moved to Connecticut to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren.

Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, he learned to be a hard worker and always had a good work ethic. At the age of 17, Luis joined the US Army and was in the Vietnam War. His role in the 82nd Airborne Infantry was to provide air support to our troops behind enemy lines and retrieve our fallen soldiers from the battlefield. He left with an honorable discharge in 1977.

Luis is remembered for his comical sense of humor, kind heart, and warm spirit. Luis enjoyed watching sports, crime shows, and military documentaries. Luis was also a foodie and enjoyed having a large black coffee to start his day. You would typically find Luis cleaning his car, watching TV, eating a snack, or spending time with his family. Luis was not only an amazing father but also a husband, brother, uncle, son, and Papa.

He leaves behind his beloved mother, Neredia Sanabria, and wife, Miriam Espinosa. Their daughter, Ashley Marie Crespo, and her husband, Juan Virola. His cherished grandchildren, Ezekiel and Gianna Crespo-Virola. His brother Quique and his wife Milagros. His sister Madeline and her husband Harod. His sister Evelyn. His beloved mother-in-law, Urselina Espinosa. His sister-in law, Yolanda, and her husband, Gilbert Gonzalez. His sister-in-law, Maria Espinosa. His brother-in-law, Juilo, and his wife, Millie Espinosa. Along with his beloved nieces and nephews: Harito, Marisol, Iris, Rafael, Anthony, Julio, Yolanda, Judith, and Tony.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and visit with the Crespo family on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at the State Veterans Cemetery located at 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT., where full military honors will be held.
