Luis Salcedo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson Family Funeral Chapel of Merced on Jan. 6, 2026.
Luis Alfonso Salcedo of Merced, California, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family,
on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the age of 69.

Luis was born on December 16, 1956, in Zamora, Michoacán, Mexico, to Albino and Maria Trinidad Salcedo. He was one of nine children. In 1971, Luis came to the United States, where he began working as a farm laborer. Through dedication and hard work, he advanced in his career, eventually retiring from his position as an HR Supervisor. He later continued his professional career as a Safety Manager for public transportation.

Luis was a skilled mechanic and could often be found working on his beloved 1972 Mach 1 Mustang. He also enjoyed watching soccer games and proudly cheering for CD Guadalajara, also known as Chivas. Above all else, Luis treasured spending time with his family. Luis is survived by his loving wife, Olga Salcedo; his children, Vanessa Lara (Luis), Luis Salcedo, Luis Salcedo Jr. (Rebecca), and Amber Cicero (Joseph); his seven cherished grandchildren: Giovanni, Evan, Brandon, Jordan, Ezra, Kalin, and Lucas; and great grandchild Josiah.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

My deepest condolences to you and your family. Luis was not only my neighbor but more importantly my dear friend. Olga, you and Luis were always there for me after Russ died and I am eternally grateful for your support. Though loss is never easy and grief only lessens, it is always there when we lose someone we love so deeply. Olga, I pray that your friends and family rally around you as you walk now as a widow who has just lost a wonderful man. I will keep all of you in my prayers.
Sincerely, Diane Obrey

I give my condolences to his whole family. I pray that God gives each and everyone of you the strength to get through your loss. Luis was an amazing man I had the privilege to work with him for an amazing amount of years, then I got to work with him side by side for almost three years we worked so hard to train over 60 people to drive buses. He taught me so much especially when he used his mechanic skills on the bus, that was part of the training, he knew those buses from the front to the back. I knew more in the training area so I helped him and he helped me. We spend lots of hours preparing we had all the right ideas and we put them together everyday. I could say that I was so proud of him and I Luis has left a legacy at the bus all the hard work in preparing for training and the route that they now use at our job site for testing we can say we accomplished it before he retired. I remember the new safety manager asking me if they could have a copy of the route that the new drivers would be testing on, we also had to get the ok from Sacremento to use it it was a long process. I had so much respect for him enough to call him and ask him if he was ok that I handed over all the work that we did together, his words were Peggy that is up to you, you did an amazing job in putting it together, you were the one that spend nights and mornings typing it over and over because of fresno office, so he said it is up to you, I am so glad that I gave them the work that we so hard worked on because now I know that will always be a part of him. May he rest in peace and continue to be that beautiful angel to everyone who new him.
