Luke Cordisco Obituary

It is with a heavy heart to announce the sudden passing of Luke Giovanni Cordisco, age 24, from Mars, PA on September 6, 2025.

Luke was born on August 2nd, 2001 at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh. He is the son of Gino and the late Caroline (Beatty) Cordisco.

Luke is survived by: his loving sister Julia Cordisco; adoring grandmother Connie Beatty; aunts Susan Sawayda, Marie Leary, Shelly Cordisco, and Christina Beatty; uncles Boris Cordisco Jr., Christopher Beatty, Mike Leary, and Mike Sawayda; cousins Josh and Jake Leary, Ethan Cordisco, Samantha, Matthew, and Nathan Sawayda, and Theodore and Gemma Beatty; and many many dear family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Boris and Carmela Cordisco Sr. and Elmer Beatty Jr.

Luke was an alumnus of the honorable Central Catholic High School (class of 2019) in Pittsburgh. He briefly spent time in Tucson at the University of Arizona and then returned home to the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, where he recognized his interest in the culinary arts. Luke moved to upstate New York in 2021 to attend the prestigious Culinary Institute of America where he learned, practiced and perfected his craft. He graduated from the institution in the spring of 2025 with a Bachelor's Degree of Professional Studies in Applied Food Studies. At the time of his passing, Luke was residing in New York City, where he had completed an externship and was starting his career as a chef at the notable Tavern on the Green restaurant in Central Park under the guidance of executive chef Bill Peete.

Luke was an incredibly kind, caring, attentive, and compassionate person. He was someone that you remember meeting or having a conversation with, even if it was for just a few moments. He held an admirable and strong work ethic that was reflected in everything he did, and he truly had a love and passion for the culinary arts that began through watching his grandmother Carmela and mother in the kitchen as a young boy. He particularly loved to cook Italian, French, and Mediterranean cuisines. He was always proud to be from the city of Pittsburgh, and was a lifelong dedicated Steelers fan. Luke was known by everyone for his beautiful curly hair that so many were envious of. He arguably had one of the greatest smiles, and could make anyone laugh within moments of meeting him. Luke will be deeply loved, missed, and remembered by all that knew and were impacted by him.

All are welcome to join his family and friends for the viewing that will be held for him and his mother on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 2pm - 4pm and 6pm - 8pm at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home in Mars, PA (238 Crowe Ave). A funeral mass will be held on October 6, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Kilian's Parish, 7076 Franklin Rd. Cranberry Twp, PA 16066. Please meet at the church. Burial will take place at Mars Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stay; For Life or Movember organization at https://www.stayforlife.org/donate/ and https://us.movember.com/about/mental-health.

Thank you for being such an amazing friend - the kind of person who could make me laugh even when I didn´t want to smile. You always knew how to say the right (or completely ridiculous) thing at exactly the right time.

Thanks for being you. I´ll never forget it
