Luke Hafford Obituary

Luke Hafford

White RIver Junction, VT - Luke James Hafford joined God The Father in Heaven on February 2, 2025. Our free spirited, red headed baby brother was born in Fort Kent, Maine on June 17, 1994. Luke was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes not long after he turned 5 years old; a disease that took so much from him during his short 30 years. Luke was someone who had a joy for tinkering on all the things, exploring new places, and was always up for an adventure. He enjoyed riding motorcycle, especially with his beloved dog Fenway. Not only would Luke try anything once, he would be the first person to try it. He was always making people laugh. He was the type of person to tell you exactly what he thought. Being diabetic, he didn't like to sugar coat anything.

If you were lucky enough to be in Luke's inner circle, he would go to the end of the earth for you. If you were on the receiving end of his jokes and quick wit, you knew that he truly cared about you.

Luke always had some type of project going on. Depending on who he was talking to, he was a mechanic, a roofer, a painter, an electrician, a plumber, a landscaper, a contractor, a snow maker, a high-rise window washer, a woodworker, a carpenter, a pharmacist. He was forever just a little boy at heart; free spirited, stubborn, curious, and fearless.

Luke is survived by his fur baby Sami, paternal grandmother Theresa Hafford of St Francis, ME; his parents Jim Hafford of West Fairlee, VT and Trish Boncek of Quechee, VT; two sisters Jamie Fletcher of WRJ, VT and Shaunna Hafford of Windsor, VT. His niece and nephews whom he loved dearly, Ava Fletcher, Cylan Berry, Tukker Hardy, and Noah Hardy. He also leaves behind Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many, many friends. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Thomas and Elizabeth Boncek, his paternal grandfather Frederick Hafford, and his fur babies Maizy and Fenway.

In lieu of flowers or monetary donations; do something meaningful in memory of Luke.

A celebration of life will be held for Luke on February 23rd, 2025 at the Filling Station in WRJ, VT at 3pm.

I never had the honor of knowing Luke but wish I had the opportunity. He obviously took advantage of all the opportunities in life that he loved. I am a friend of his mother Trish and I can see where his strength, character and giving caring heart come from. My heart goes out to Trish and her family.

Precious memories of Lukey since his was a handsome, precious little red head boy! I will cherish memories forever with Luke's mom Trish and her precious children! Shaunna is my beautiful God daughter and Trish's children hold a special place in my heart! Trish and I PRAYED and BELIEVED together that Lukey would be healed and God answered our prayers but NOT in the way we wanted! God had other plans and healed Lukey as Jesus brought him HOME to heaven! Lukey has new legs, happy and healthy surrounded by more LOVE than we could ever imagine! I can see him in heaven on his Harley with fenway on the back riding speed lightning fast laughing and having fun !!! I can see his mansion in heaven next to his mom Trish who LOVED HIM more than life itself!!! Many things we will not understand until we get to heaven but we know God LOVES each ONE of us beyond measure and we are his offspring and eternal and so blessed to spend eternity in heaven with those we LOVE and in the presence of heavenly father,Jesus and Holy spirit !! Heaven is so much more brighter now with Lukey there and I can only imagine how HAPPY he was to be greeted by his family and especially his little sister Zoyee and little brother Thomas!!! Love you Lukey to heaven and back for eternity !!!

I want to say to Luke´s parents and sisters and family, I´m thinking about you all from many miles away. When I moved to Vershire from Tennessee in elementary school I was a lost kid in a different world. Luke was the first person to get to know me and I´ll never forget the friendship we had growing up. I remember I would lie and tell my parents we were neighbors (even though he lived in town I lived way out by the Hodges place) just so they would bring me over. So many afternoons digging tunnel forts in his parents yard to playing video games or making up our own games. Luke always got people around him to laugh or use their imagination. He just always wanted everyone to have a good time. He was a really awesome friend and I´m so thankful to have known him in some of our best years. #foreveryoung love you buddy!

You are riding the golden streets of heaven on your motorcycle with Fen and enjoying every bit of what God The Father promised! I love you eternally son and will forever be saddened on the days we missed. I asked Jesus to heal you and he did, in his way. Forever My Lukey - ...until Jesus brings me home to you.
