Luke "Hao-y" Nguyen had his last dance on Earth, Sunday, July 7th, 2024. He was born on February 20, 1995 in Aurora, Colorado. He is survived by his grandma Marie Buivantri, his parents, Tho "Tod" Dinh Nguyen, Hoa "Vie" Tran Nguyen, his older brother Nicholas and his family, wife Allison, Noah, Levi, Emma Nguyen, his younger sisters Sarah and Remy Nguyen, and dogs Mochi and Casper. He is remembered as a devoted and gentle son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Some of his happiest days were spent with family playing board games, sharing meals, watching movies and mostly laughing. It was evident that the love he showed everyone was true and genuine.
He danced to the beat of his own drum and anyone who knew him saw his excitement for life. You could not get him to leave the dance floor and would often find him in the epicenter of all the energy. He felt every note, every beat, and every drop. Anyone that has seen him dance could see the electricity move through his body. He would often say, "Can't you feel it?" This was always met with a smile and a slight nod, but no one could truly feel music and the energy quite the same way.
Hao-y saw the world so uniquely and bore so much empathy for the world. He even sacrificed his love for steaks and sushi for his new devotion to vegan life in order to positively impact animals. Luke wrote ideas in his journal about how to change the world. In one of his journal passages dated June 13, 2024 he wrote, "...we willingly will share with one another to virtuously provide loving and joyful experiences to the world we have hope in finding loving meaning and value in, a Home for all of us."
Luke wanted to marry his knowledge of technology and his passion for music to create a welcoming world. One of the last projects he worked on was building a game centered around music. He even built a VR body and hand tracking glove for his game. Luke believed this game could bring people together and allow them to see the world as he saw it, where every note had intention, every color was vibrant, and every user could simply be themselves.
He moved through life unafraid and unashamed. He would wish for all of us to do the same. And so, as Luke, Hao, Anh Ba, Hao-y, astutely put it "to the front" for "one more song."
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Ave Maria Catholic Church, with rosary being held thirty minutes prior, from 10:30-11:00 am at the church. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm, Monday, July 15, 2024 at Ponderosa Valley Funeral Services. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery at 1:00pm MST.
**Dress Code Optional: Formal but bright and colorful attire. His favorite color is green

My first memory of Luke was them leaving their dorm hall door open with roommate Rob on the first day of move-in. I was pretty alone at this time but I saw he was playing League of Legends, a game which our shared interest in created a point of connection, and they invited me in and I got to know Luke and Rob, which resulted in lifetime friendships. We would proceed to spend evenings climbing around where we shouldn't. We moved in together my Sophomore year, and upon returning to Washington State after that year, Luke would be one of the people I missed the most when thinking about my short time spent in Colorado. They graciously hosted me when I returned a couple years later for a friend's wedding and having the opportunity to reconnect in person, after many, many hours spent chatting online is something I'll hold close.
