Lula Marie Hammond, 95, of De Pere, passed away on July 1, 2024.
She was born on March 9, 1929 to Elias and Lula (Parsons) Travers in District of Columbia. She shared her childhood with five other siblings.
When she was 15 she married Howard F. Hammond on August 10, 1945 in Maryland. They traveled extensively as their family grew from one child to 12 children between Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky and ended up settling in Wisconsin. She loved nature and flowers, just beautiful moments in general. She crocheted and did jewelry work, which she loved gifting to her family and friends. She enjoyed singing gospel songs and reading the Bible. Her faith was very important to her and giving her peace in her final moments.
Lula is survived by her loving children: Lloyd Hammond, Barbara (Max) Hilb, Shirley (Sam Crouse) Smith, Bobby Hammond, Roger (Janice) Hammond, Cindy (Randy) Zydzik, Bonnie Kaske, David Hammond and Peggy Fagan; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brother, Charles Travers; and daughter-in-law, Donna Hammond.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Gary; her daughter, Brenda; an infant girl; five grandchildren; her siblings: Lloyd, Katherine, Mary and Joe; son-in-laws, Raymond Smith and Terry Fagan; daughter-in-law, Shirley Hammond; and ex-husband, Howard Hammond.
