Lula Mae Alford Sims, 88, passed away on Wednesday, September 3rd at Crouse Hospital. She was born to the late Rev. Thomas and Susie Alford in Pinehurst, NC. For many years, she lived in Buffalo and in Syracuse.
Lula was a very kind, caring, giving, and lovely person. She was a missionary worker. During her early years she worked as a surgical technician at St. Joseph and Upstate Medical Hospitals. She loved to crochet and made many outfits for herself and others. Lula was also a great cook.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lonie Sims.
To mourn her loss, she leaves her three sisters, Mary, Nancy, and Susie; brother, Thomas; special cousins, Ann McAuley, Lottie Mason, and Vivian Pinkston; nephews, Kenneth Williams and Thomas Johnson; nieces, Sonya Pollard and Octavia Johnson; Her Godson, Daniel and a host of in-laws and dear friends.
The family of Lula would like to thank everyone for their prayers and love during this time of sadness.
Calling hour will be held on Friday, September 12th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at FARONE & SON, Inc. Funeral Home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse. A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Lula Mae, please visit our floral store.
