Lula Edith Waller, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on May 11, 1938, in Webster Parish, Louisiana, Lula was a true testament to love, resilience, and family devotion throughout her life. Lula was the cherished daughter of Admiral Dewey New and Betty Gresham New. She was welcomed into the world with the warmth of a loving family and would go on to create her own lasting legacy. Lula lived a life filled with laughter and joy, sharing 55 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Clifford Waller, Sr. Together, they built a life rich in love and memories, raising a beautiful family that would come to define her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifford, her son Clifford "C.A." Waller, and eleven siblings. Lula was a woman who faced loss with strength, and her spirit remained unyielding even in the face of adversity. Her heart, however, remained open and full, filled with the love she gave to those around her. Lula is survived by her daughter, Betty Waller, who was not just her child but her closest confidant and friend. Their bond was unbreakable, with Lula holding on as long as she could, not wanting to leave her Betty behind. Lula cherished their visits and the laughter they shared. Her grandsons, Frank Waller and his wife Jessica, and Kevin Austin, along with her great-grandchildren, Ashlyn "Ashton" Waller and Trindon Chaisson, were the light of her life. She was also proud to welcome her great-great-grandchild, Taitum Grace, into the world, as family was always her priority. Known for her chatty, feisty personality, Lula had a knack for bringing laughter into any room. She was often referred to as "Chatty Cathy" and was loved for her humorous spirit and her tendency to engage in lively conversations with those around her. A true lover of life, she found joy in Hallmark movies and retail therapy, and her fondness for the roses that Clifford grew for her was a testament to the love they shared. Family gatherings were a highlight of Lula's life, where she would revel in the company of her loved ones, creating memories that would be cherished by all who knew her. She was a loving person who fiercely cherished her family, embodying the qualities of a matriarch who would do anything for her children and grandchildren. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 9:30 until the time of the service at Hopewell Baptist Church, DeRidder, Louisiana, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home.
