Lulabelle Wittner Obituary

Visit the Relyea Funeral Chapel website to view the full obituary.
Lulabelle Wittner was born on February 19, 1939. When she was three days old, she was adopted by Murble and Helen Whisman. She was raised on farms in Nebraska, which she loved to tell stories about. She graduated from Ansley High School in 1957.

On November 2, 1958, she married Walter Wolford. To this union, Wanda Lou was born on November 1, 1959. Lulabelle and Walter were later divorced.

Lou then joined a pen-pal club called "The Lonely Hearts Club." She started to write to Ed Wittner. He was in the Police Department in Idaho. Ed went to Nebraska and married Lou on May 12, 1962. Ed took Lou and "Wanny Lou" to a new home in Boise, Idaho. To this union were born Carol Ann on April 24, 1963 and Ricky Glenwood on March 17, 1965. Ed adopted Wanda on February 23, 1965, officially making everyone a part of the Wittner family. Lulabelle and Ed later divorced.

Lou babysat for many years. She became "Grandma Lou" to many children. She thought and would talk about them often. She also worked at the Tax Commission for awhile.

On May 18, 1980, Lou met Roland Cayton. They were married in 1980 and later divorced.

In August of 1987, Lou flew to Germany to see Carol and her family. It was an amazing trip for her!

In February of 1998, Lou remarried Ed, and too soon, on Valentines Day, Ed passed away.

Lou's son, Rick, married Charlene in 2000 and they moved in with Lou to help take care of her.

Lou worked as a cashier at the airport for many years. She was recognized as "The Airport Lady" on June 20, 2000. She had a full page article in the Idaho Statesman. She felt very honored for this. She always had a smile and warm greeting for everybody.

On October 28, 2005, Lou called Wanda, who was looking for a job, and told her that they needed a cashier. Wanda was hired the next day.

Lulabelle "Lou" (Whisman) Wittner died at a hospital in Boise, Idaho on Friday, October 31, 2025. She was 86 years old.

A funeral will be held for Lulabelle at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St. Boise, Idaho 83706, on Monday, November 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM. A viewing for friends and family will precede the funeral at Relyea Funeral Chapel from Noon to 12:50 PM. Interment will follow at Morris Hill Cemetery.
