Lupe Serna Obituary
Lupe Serna, 96, of Amarillo, TX passed away April 20, 2025.
Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 25, 2025, at Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Lupe was born October 2, 1928 in Amarillo, TX to Dolores and Carmen Malacara. She worked for Santa Fe Railroad when she was young during WWII. She also worked as a part-time supervisor at Martindale Services almost 20 years. Lupe was a homemaker and an avid gardener. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was an excellent cook. Lupe was an animal lover, especially her puppies, Betsy and Chiquita.
She is preceded in death by her husband Hector G. Serna Sr; and 9 brothers and sisters, Francisco, Luz, David, Elias, Dolores Jr, Pablo Paul, Mary, Virginia, and Daniel.
Lupe is survived by her son, Hector Serna of Amarillo, TX; daughters, Shirley Serna of Austin, TX, and Rachel Serna-Zapata of Amarillo, TX; brother, David Malacara of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Nicholas “Nick” Serna and Jessica, Christopher Zapata, Marqus Zapata, Hector Rolando Zapata and Justice, and Alysia Raquel Alvarado; and great-grandchildren, Reagan, Trinity, Jasmine, and Rolando; and many nieces and nephews.
