Marlon Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Golden Gate Mortuary on Feb. 5, 2026.
Marlon Tanard Brown, age 44, of Amarillo, Texas, entered eternal rest on February 2, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. Born and raised in Amarillo, Marlon was a beloved son, father, brother, coach,
mentor, and community pillar whose life was defined by service, love, faith, and an unwavering commitment to others.

Affectionately known as "Downtown Marlon Brown," Marlon was widely recognized for his dedication to youth through coaching and mentoring. Sports were more than a passion for him
they were a calling, a connection point, and a ministry.

Marlon's love for sports began early. Out of his father Michael Brown's determination to "run out his energy" because Marlon was full of life and mischief, Marlon was introduced to football
and track in the second grade. What started as an outlet quickly became a lifelong love. That early introduction shaped his discipline, confidence, and work ethic, and ultimately laid the
foundation for the man he would become.

Marlon went on to play football, basketball, and track throughout his youth and high school years, earning recognition not only for his athletic ability but for his heart, leadership, and grit.
Through sports, he formed lifelong friendships brotherhoods that meant everything to him. As the only boy among three siblings, those teammates became the brothers he never had, bonds
that lasted well beyond the field and court.

Those same values carried into adulthood. Marlon poured himself into coaching and mentoring young people, determined to give them what sports had given him: structure, belonging,
accountability, and belief. Children gravitated toward him, and parents trusted him, because he coached from experience and led with love.

Self-employed and proudly known as "Mr. Can Do Everything," Marlon was dependable, resourceful, and always willing to help. If something needed to be done, Marlon showed up without hesitation and without complaint.

Even while facing his own illness, Marlon remained dedicated to serving others. He continued to show up for his teams, his children, and his community, never allowing pain to overshadow
purpose. He fought quietly, faithfully, and with strength, and is now at peace free from pain and resting in God's care.

Marlon's greatest joy was his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Deborah Brown; his sisters, LaTonya Brown and Jazmine Brown; his children, Kendra Ray, Hezekiah Williams, Narvella Ray, Zaylon Brown, Ariah Miles, and Jeremiah Frazier; his bonus children; and his three beloved granddaughters, who were the light of his later years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Brown.

A man of faith, Marlon lived out his beliefs through action. His legacy lives on in every child he coached, every young person he encouraged, and every life he touched through sports, service, and love.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
