Luz Mary Dominguez passed away on March 9, 2026, at the age of 85, after a life rich with joy, creativity, and love. Born in Colombia on May 7, 1940, Luz's journey brought her from the vibrant landscapes of Cali to the bustling streets of New York City where she lived from 1962 to 1984, and many places beyond thereafter.
A mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother, Luz's family was her heart's masterpiece. She is survived by her loving daughters Claudia Dominguez of New York, NY, and Adriana Esposito and her husband Paul of Clifton. Luz was reunited in passing with her beloved husband Raul Dominguez. She will be fondly remembered by her sisters Nelly Godoy of New York, NY, Amparo Gonzalez of Queens, NY, Teresa Rincon and Zubelly Carvajal, both of Colombia, as well as by her brothers Guido Carvajal of Houston, TX, and Javier Carvajal of West New York, NJ. Luz's legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren - Leticia Sanagua, Matias Sanagua, Mariano Esposito, Santino Esposito, and Alessio Esposito.
In 1984, Luz and her family moved to Argentina where they lived for the next thirteen years before returning to New York City. It was while in Argentina that she owned a boutique, sharing her passion for jewelry and accessories with her clientele. Her creative touch and friendly demeanor left an indelible mark on all who came to know her both personally and professionally.
In 2005, Luz made
Loganville, GA her home before she once again returned to New York City following her husband's passing in 2010. She was a member of Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in New York City, where she shared her faith and fellowship with the community. She lived a full life-full of love, adventure and creative pursuits and will be remembered for the smiles she brought into the room and the love she had for her family and friends.
Her interests and hobbies were a reflection of her loving character. Luz had a talent for connecting with others with food being her love language, bringing everyone together whether it was a holiday or a random Tuesday night. She was more than happy to offer you a nice homemade meal or freshly baked cookies and would smile as you enjoyed. She also loved to connect with family and friends on social media. One of her most cherished experiences was a family trip last year to Spain, where she immersed herself in the culture, history and breathtaking scenery alongside her daughters and their families.
Luz will be remembered as a joyous, happy soul. Her smile was radiant like the sun. She cooked meals after flights, after fights, and after long, long nights. She smiled through the tough moments, and held our head up when our heart was tired.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-5 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton and can be viewed via livestream by visiting Luz's obituary page at www.bizubquinlan.com and clicking the livestream link at the top.
