Luz Helena Gil de Acosta, 75 of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024, with her family by her side.
Born May 24, 1948 in Medellin, Colombia, Luz was the daughter of the late Francisco Luis Gil Correa and Maria Carolina Yepes Jaramillo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Luis Carlos Gil Yepes.
Luz is survived by her daughter, Andrea D. Correa and her husband Luiz; daughter, Luz A. Acosta; grandchildren, Isabela, Camila, and Gabriel; brothers and sisters, Amparo GIl de Echeverri, Ligia Gil Yepes, Daniel Gil Yepes, Nohora Gil Yepes, and Jorge Gil Yepes; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.
For several years, Luz diligently worked as an LPN, showing professionalism and compassion to everyone in her care. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, sewing, and gardening. Luz leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and steadfast devotion for all in whom she cared for, especially her beloved family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society to support brain cancer research at https://donate.cancer.org/.
