Her Story
Lydia Sue Bebley was born on December 25, 1958, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Donna Jo Bebley and Michael Willis Bebley. Lydia received her primary education in the Indianapolis Public School System, and she graduated from Emmerich Manual High School, in 1978. Lydia immediately went to work for the United States Postal Service, and in January of 1978, she gave birth to her only child, Torie Monchelle Harris, whom she loved dearly.
Lydia loved the Lord and was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. She enjoyed hanging out with family, visiting casinos with her friends, and going out to eat - you could often catch her with a Pepsi at Pappadeaux or Red Lobster. She didn't care to cook much but she made a mean macaroni and cheese, another one of her favorites. Her favorite color was blue, and she loved to watch her stories: Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful, Guiding Light and As the World Turns.
On December 27, 2017, Lydia was joined in marriage to her lifelong friend, Ricky Wayne Spivey. Lydia retired from the United States Postal Service and was able to enjoy two years of being retired before being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. In December of 2020, she had an unfortunate stroke that sent her into early Dementia, but she held onto her sayings:
"That's what you get"
"Turn the channel"
"I just want a little bit" and "Can I get one more?"
She texted in all caps when she was mad, and she always left a voice message saying who she was, like we didn't know.
Lydia Sue Bebley was affectionately known as Honey by her husband; Lydie-Lah and Lyd by her sisters, Gi-Gi by her grandkids, Auntie Lydie by a host of nieces and nephews, and Lydie-Mom by Grandma Harris. Lydia was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Allen Bebley.
She leaves to cherish her memory Ricky Wayne Spivey, husband; daughter, Torie Harris (Brandon); grandkids, Aliyah, Justice, Brandon and Braydon, and great-grandson, Major; Donna and Michael Bebley, parents; sisters, Michele Adams (Keith) and Monica Peacher (Keith), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends.
Lydia Sue Bebley was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the age of 64.
