Life and Legacy
Lydia was a devoted wife for 63 years, supporting her husband, Roy, through UD Dental school, his Air Force service in San Antonio, and in partnership raising their family. She was a nurturing mother to five children who threw her curve balls throughout life, but she never backed off the plate. She was the pillar of her family, built on a foundation of faith, love and understanding. Lydia carried this over into extra innings by her role as a supporting Grandmother. She was always there to pitch-in wherever needed, no warm-up, just available to support her grandchildren and even their parents if that was what they needed. She continued this legacy of love by being there for her 15 great grandchildren. Throughout her journey Lydia touched many lives with her gentle spirit, unwavering faith and love. Although we will miss her smiling face, her home-cooked meals and loving nature, we will cherish the times we had, the memories we made, and the love we shared. Godspeed until we meet again. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all.
Lydia will lie instate on Tuesday, December 23 from 9:30 am until the time of her funeral Mass at 10 am at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church, 157 Lake Shore, Grosse Pointe Farms.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Solanus Casey Center, 1780 Mt. Elliott Street, Detroit.
