Lydia Moore, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 10, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on May 23, 1928, in Hamilton, OH, to parents John and Opal (nee Phares) Sackenheim, Lydia lived a life rich in connection and love, touching the lives of many during her life.Lydia, known for her independent spirit and warm heart, was a vibrant figure in her neighborhood. A proud tomboy at heart, she shared her love of sports with her children, always actively engaging in their lives and encouraging them to pursue their dreams. As the neighborhood mom, Lydia embraced her role with joy, welcoming friends and families alike with her friendly demeanor and bright smile.She found joy in simple pleasures, like playing cards with friends and family, and was always known to strike up a conversation with anyone she met, making a new friend at every turn. In the 90s, Lydia dedicated her time to delivering meals on wheels, embodying her commitment to serving others in the community.
Lydia will most be remembered by her incredible laugh she could have a whole room laughing. Those to carry on her legacy will be her children James Moore, and Marlene (Rick) Auerbach; her grandchildren: Elizabeth (Marty) Holcombe, Sarah (Jack) Buchholtz, John Moore, Katie Auerbach, and Brett (Kira Wledon) Auerbach; and her great grandchildren: Emma, Zachary, and Henry. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Opal Sackenheim.A funeral service honoring Lydia’s life will be held on July 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Michael J. Colligan Lodge located at 20 New London Road, Hamilton, OH 45013. Graveside service will follow, taking place at Greenwood Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating the remarkable life of Lydia, reflecting on the many cherished memories and the joy she brought to everyone she encountered.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make memorial donations to Meals on Wheels in Lydia's memory. A representative from the funeral home will be available to assist with memorial arrangements.
