In Loving Memory of Lydia Pizana Ocañas
February 10, 1952 – July 11, 2025
Lydia Pizana Ocañas, age 73, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, at 3:25 a.m. Born on February 10, 1952, in Odem, Texas, Lydia lived a life full of love, laughter, and kindness.
Lydia was a retired bank teller, known not only for her professionalism but for her warm heart and vibrant spirit. She often spoke fondly of her 40s and 50s, when some of her happiest memories were made dancing with her Tía and great friends at Bea's Island Club and Hallaballoos. Her love for people extended into every part of her life.
Lydia never missed a birthday or anniversary-she kept a meticulous calendar and was known for her thoughtful phone calls that made others feel remembered and cherished. Her genuine care for others was one of her most beautiful qualities.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Guadalupe Ocañas, and her brother, Jose Ernesto Ocañas. She is survived by her beloved siblings, Jaine Ocañas and Able Ocañas; her children, Oscar C. Salinas, Eric C. Salinas, and Lydia C. Fuentes; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many great friends who enriched her life and cherished her deeply.
Lydia's generous spirit continues on-she was an organ donor, and through the gift of her eyes, she will help 32 individuals of all ages see the world more clearly.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 19th, 2025, at:
Blackwell and Vasquez Woodforest Funeral Home
750 Uvalde Rd., Houston, Texas 77015
2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Immediate Family)
