Lyla E. Cole, age 78 of Faribault, MN passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, surrounded by her family, at Ivy Hill Senior Living in Faribault following an extended illness.

Lyla Elaine, the daughter of Otto and Lyla (Race) Schultz was born on October 29, 1945 in Staples, MN.  She attended Trinity Lutheran School in Faribault.  She was united in marriage to Harvey Phillops and they later divorced.  Lyla later married Gene Cole and he preceded her in death in 2001.  Lyla worked for over 26 years as a Resource Counselor at Cenneidigh Inc.  She loved her job and the opportunity that it gave her to help others.  Lyla loved taking care of people and loved her special dogs, Maggie and Emma.  She enjoyed caring for her great granddaughter, Daytona. It was so special to her.  Lyla also enjoyed going to garage sales and watching Gun Smoke.

She is survived by her daughter, Dana (Dean) Jerrow of Faribault; by two grandsons, Noah Jerrow and Ryan Jerrow (Chris Hunt); by three great grandchildren, Daytona Jerrow, Dallas Taylor and Dakota Vold; by her brothers, Jack (Virginia) Schultz of Medford, MN and Larry Schultz of Moose Lake, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son and her siblings, Bill Schultz, Raymond Schultz, Ronald “Butch” Schultz, Gene Schultz, Pat Messig and Marlene Schindeldecker.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with Todd Lundgren officiating.  Interment will be held at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park at a later date.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
