Lyla Lynn Higgins

Lyla Lynn Higgins, 77, of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Bay At Beloit Health & Rehabilitation Center
Lyla was born on August 7, 1946, in Edgerton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lyle L. and Irma Mary (Allen) Higgins.
Lyla graduated from Edgerton High School. She resided in several areas of Wisconsin including Edgerton, Janesville, Racine, Walworth, and Beloit. While living in Janesville Lyla worked at the Janesville Gazette and later worked at a plastics factory in Walworth County. Upon moving to Racine, she worked at a correctional facility. Lastly, Lyla was employed at Hardee's Restaurant while living in Walworth.
Lyla was mostly a serious person, but also had a fun side to her. She enjoyed collecting jewelry and knick-knacks. When her children were younger Lyla and the kids enjoyed taking weekend summer vacations together. Back in the 1970's when CB radios were popular her handle was "Yellow Bird".
Lyla is survived by her children, Dell (Toni) Horan, Vallerie Horan, and Brandon Horan; grandchildren, Steven Horan, and Sonjia Wortham; great-grandchildren, Connor, Emberlynn, and Quentin; sisters, June Wall, and Virginia Perkl. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Beverly Higgins, and Donna Guernsey.
Funeral services are 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home, 424 Prospect Street, Beloit, Wisconsin 53511. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Following the services committal will take place at Fulton Cemetery, 6725 West Caledonia Road, Edgerton, Wisconsin 53534.
