Lyle Cole passed away peacefully at his Howard home on May 29, 2024.
Lyle was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He spent the majority of his service time in Alaska where he was a helicopter mechanic. After his military service, he returned to his home in Michigan and shortly after found himself in the Green Bay area.
Lyle was an avid musician and loved "old country" and bluegrass music. He spent decades in the Green Bay area playing in bands where the crowds would yell out "Play Old Rattler" at which point he would whip out his banjo and play the old Grandpa Jones classic to a screaming crowd.
He loved being in social settings and always had a funny story to tell. He was always up for a game of pool, dice, or cards. He considered himself to be the best cribbage player in the world and was quick to remind his opponent of that fact whenever he had a chance. Lyle loved deer hunting with family and friends and was always happy to repeat the same funny stories year-after-year.
After the death of his second wife, Julene Cole (Troiber), Lyle met and married his perfect match; Linda Kern (LeNoble). With Linda, he was able to enjoy his retirement years as they traveled around many states and enjoyed all that life had to offer. They enjoyed camping, playing cards, dice, bluegrass festivals, and the simple things in life.
Lyle was very proud of his extended family, and each has many special memories to carry with them for their own life.
Lyle is survived by his wife Linda Cole (LeNoble), Jeremy Cole, Ron Cole, Denise (Cole) Debri, Wanda Boeck, Debbie King, Jake Kern, Derrick Kern, and Zach Kern; as well as siblings Eileen (Cole) Spink, Lauren (Jan) Cole, Joyce (Cole) Bates, June (Cole) Dean and David Cole, and many others. He was preceeded in death by his parents Vernon and Myrtle (Russell) Cole and brothers Lloyd Cole and Carl Cole.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 3 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Howard-Suamico location, 1145 Cardinal Lane. A funeral service and Military Honors will immediately follow at 12:00 PM.

Lyle is my Great Uncle. When I was little I remember going over to his house on the Bay when he would throw his Bluegrass parties. Uncle Lyle always had a smile on his face when I would see him, and I never heard him say anything that was unkind. He was a kind gentle sole and will be greatly missed!

I didn´t know Lyle, but I felt like I knew him from the stories I´ve heard over the years from his family. I think good storytelling runs in the family. I´m so sorry for your loss and the pain that goes with it. I will keep the Cole family in my prayers.
