TOWNSEND: Lyle A. McSparren, 86, of Townsend, died Sunday, November 10, 2024 at his residence.
Mr. McSparren was born in Franklin, PA, March 23, 1938, a son of George A. and Alberta (Flockerzi) McSparren and has resided in Townsend for over 50 years.
During his high school years, Mr. McSparren worked for the Penzoil Corporation in several capacities including on the oil rigs as well as in the office.
Following his 1956 graduation from Cranberry High School in Venango, County, Pennsylvania, Mr. McSparren enlisted in the United States Army beginning what became a career lasting over twenty two years. He retired from the United States Army in October 1978 at the rank of Master Sergeant.
Following his retirement from the Armed Forces, Mr. McSparren continued to work as a Civilian Employee at Fort Devens in a variety of security positions including an Analyst and Cryptographic Operator the ASA School at Fort Devens.
Mr. McSparren also worked three years in the accounting department at INSCO Corporation in Groton.
He was a member of the Townsend Senior Citizens.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Theresa J. (Dussault) McSparren; his son and daughter in law, Christopher L. and Leah McSparren of Ashburnham; his daughter and son in law, Cecilia J. and Bryan Malette of Lewiston, ME, six grandchildren, Kristin Normandin, Sean Malette, Ryan Malette, Joseph McSparren, Gage McSparren Andrew McSparren; seven great grandchildren, Declan Normandin, Liam Normandin, Joshua Malette, Jayson Malette, Joseph Malette, Danielle Malette and Rudy Malette.
He was the brother of the late George R. McSparren of Memphis, TN, Claude L. McSparren of Colorado Springs, CO and Daniel McSparren of Newcastle, PA.
Mr. McSparren's Funeral will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, November 22, 2024 at the Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main Street (Rte 119) Townsend Center followed by interment with military honors at Hillside Cemetery, Townsend. His family will receive relatives and friends at a visitation period Friday, November 22, 2024 from 10 AM until the time of the service.
The Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, Townsend Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
