Lyle Brent Shaw (3/20/1947 - 10/16/2025)
Lyle Brent Shaw passed away on October 16 as he lived - peacefully, at home, with
family, and surrounded by love - at age 78 in Plymouth Massachusetts. He was born in
1947 to parents Clifford E. Shaw and Dorothy M. Shaw, in Greeley, CO. He is survived
by his closest friend and loving wife of 32 years, Jacqueline Dorsey Shaw, his son,
Justin B. Shaw Aguirre and his husband, Gary M. Shaw Aguirre, who relocated from
Phoenix AZ to Plymouth to help Jackie provide full time home care during the final year
of his battle with Alzheimer's disease.
He also leaves behind his widespread but closely knit family (sisters Christine Shaw of
Denver CO, Carol Hanson and her husband, Jerry, of Springfield IL, Teresa Reichard
and her husband, Joe, of Newton NC, brother Roger Shaw and his wife, Mary, of Star
ID, sister-in-law Mary-Ellen Reardon of Westford, MA, many nieces, nephews, great
nieces, great nephews) and far too many friends to name.
Lyle graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with a double major in
History and Sociology. His early career ambitions as a university professor were
derailed by the draft during the Vietnam Nam War era. In the Army, his intelligence and
logistical talents spared him the front lines, sending him instead unwittingly onto a new
path in the emerging field of computer programming and information technology that
would, one day lead him to a conference room turned makeshift workspace for new
consultants at Fidelity Investments in Boston, sharing a phone (and eventually a life)
with Jackie. He and Jackie retired in 2013 and moved from Westford to Plymouth the
following year. He spent much of the remaining years at his favorite pastimes: golf and
dog walking.
Lyle enjoyed playing golf, first with the Great Island golf group and later at the Pinehills
Golf Club as a member. He loved walking his dogs, and could be seen walking over
three miles from one end of Great Island to the other, twice a day with his pets, Sophie,
a standard poodle who died in 2021, and Otis, a mini Australian Labradoodle who
misses him dearly.
Lyle loved his family and, until Alzheimer's made travel impossible, looked forward to
annual or semi annual trips to Arizona to visit with his son, Justin, and son-in-law, Gary,
and trips Colorado and throughout the country to national parks with his siblings.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jessica Bree Shaw who died in
infancy during his first marriage and great nephew, Evan Charles Shaw. Lyle's family
wishes to thank Cranberry Hospice for all their expertise and excellent support during
Lyle's final stages.
Lyle was not religious so there will be no formal services and burial will be private but he
did always love a party. To that end, a celebration of life will be scheduled for April 2026.
