Lyle Snow Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 19, 2025.
Lyle Edward Snow, aged 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in Sun Lakes, Arizona on October 5, 2025. He was born in Belle Plaine, Illinois, on August 27, 1944, to Lyle Elmo and Florence (Murphy) Snow. Lyle grew up in Galion, Ohio, where he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Richard Warner.

Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marlene (Macartney) Snow; daughter, Kristal (Brett) Snow; son, Chad (Lynn) Snow; brothers, Steve (Cindy) Francisko, Terry Warner, and Allen (Susan) Snow; sisters, Glenda Snow Harms and Monica Snow (Willie) Brown; brothers-in-law, Richard (Charlotte) Macartney, Mike (Cindy) Macartney, and Joe (Betsy) Ury; sister-in-law, Grace (Doug) Alderman; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Joy Warner Hall and Pam Warner Sitz; and brothers Edward Snow and Lyle Elmo Snow Jr..

Lyle and Marlene met as students at Bowling Green State University, where Lyle earned a degree in accounting. They married in 1966, and after graduating in 1967, Lyle began his accounting career at a CPA firm in Toledo, Ohio. His career was soon interrupted when he was drafted into the U.S. Army and sent to Vietnam, where he served until May 1969.

Upon his return, Lyle and Marlene moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he transitioned from public accounting to management accounting and later earned his CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation. In 1976, he began a long and successful career with Schindler Elevator, followed by ConAgra Foods, serving as a controller for both firms. He was respected by colleagues for his integrity and sharp analytical mind.

In retirement, Lyle and Marlene enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. They visited 49 of the 50 U.S. states (sorry, North Dakota!) and traveled internationally to Europe, China, Russia, New Zealand, and Australia. For many years they divided their time between homes in Ohio and Arizona before settling permanently in Arizona in 2024.

Lyle raised his family in Perrysburg, Ohio, where he built lasting friendships and created a home filled with love, laughter, and plenty of sports on TV. A devoted husband and father, he loved including his children in his activities. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he enjoyed coaching Chad's soccer, basketball and baseball teams and was a loyal supporter of his football games. Lyle was an ardent fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cincinnati Reds. His passion for sports-and his sharp sense of humor-were defining parts of who he was. He also loved music and had a deep affection for animals.

Eighteen years ago, Lyle survived a major stroke that doctors believed would be fatal. His perseverance and strength gave his family and friends nearly two more decades of memories, laughter, and love.

Lyle will be remembered for his unwavering character, dry humor, and devotion to his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held in Northwest Ohio in the spring.
