Sassmann's Chapel - BelleLyn C. (Jake) Weller, a lifelong area resident, passed away at the age of 79 on February 12, 2026 at his residence, surrounded by family members.
Born on September 3, 1946, in Summerfield, Lyn was the son of Earvie (Jake) and Bernice (Roberts) Weller. He attended Belle High School, notable for being a left handed pitcher on the baseball team and graduating in 1964.
Lyn commenced his professional career in 1965with Laborers International Union #840 in Rolla, Missouri, and subsequently graduated from the Reisch American School of Auctioneering in 1967.
He married Glenda Joy Thompson on December 31, 1969, and they began their life together on the Weller family farm in 1970 where they had two daughters, Mary Jo and Gina Lynn.
With a tenure spanning 61 years at Local #840, Lyn forged lasting friendships while working on bridge and highway construction projects, and he spent six of those years at the Callaway Nuclear Plant.
He cherished times spent cutting wood, tending to his garden, raising cattle on his Century Farm, fishing on the Gasconade River, hunting, and sharing moments with loved ones and friends. Lyn was blessed to spend time at “the Butler Shop” with his many friends.
Lyn was blessed with four grandchildren, Morgan and Ashley Tegart, and Waylyn and Wyatt Weller, whom he regarded as among his most treasured possessions. As a lifelong member of the Pilot Knob Baptist Church in Summerfield, Lyn dedicated his life to Jesus at the age of 10. Lyn is now reunited with his parents, Jake and Bernice Weller, and his wife Glenda.
Surviving him are his daughter Mary Jo and her husband Marvin Johnson, grandsons Waylyn and Wyatt Weller, daughter Gina Lynn Tegart and her companion Chris Gehlert, granddaughters Morgan and Ashley Tegart, sister Glenda Merrill, cousin Jerry Weller, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, Lyn opted for cremation and a Celebration Of Life will be held at the Pilot Knob Baptist Church on March 28, 2026 with visitation commencing at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. Lyn had requested that no flowers and no meal be provided. A private interment will take place at Schaning Cemetery in Summerfield where Lyn will be laid to rest beside his wife Glenda, overlooking his beloved Century Fram in accordance with family traditions and his specific requests.
