Mrs. Lynda Sue Runyon, age 78 of Artemus, Kentucky, the widow of Carl Runyon, departed this life on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at her home. She was the daughter of Clifford Scalf, Sr. and Cora Mae (Smith) Scalf born to them on May 9, 1947. She was a homemaker and believed in the Baptist faith. Lynda enjoyed quilting and flower gardening but especially loved being a wife, mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband Carl Runyon, her parents, Clifford and Cora Mae Scalf, one grandson, Dustin Waters and two sisters, Carrie Crawford and Esther Quest.
Left behind to mourn her passing, her loving children, Carl Runyon, Jr. and wife Tammy of Artemus, Carrie Waters and husband David of Corbin and Jennifer Tucker and husband Brandon of Madisonville, Kentucky, six grandchildren, Letecia Runyon Knuckles and husband Josh, Kayla Smith, Karra Tucker, Addelyn Tucker, Casey Smith and wife Heather and Brandy Scott and husband Brian, eight great grandchildren, three siblings, Clifford Scalf, Jr. of Ruskin, Florida, Anna S. Teague and husband Harry of Danville, Virginia and Loftis Quest, a special nephew, Clifford Scalf, III. and wife Rita along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Sizemore officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Carl in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, James Albert Martin, Brandon Tucker and Carl Runyon, Jr. and Clifford Scalf, III. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. The family would like to give a special thanks to her loyal and loving caretaker family; Ms. Betty, Ms. Joyce and Ms. Vickie.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
